傍Famous masks are not preventable

In recent days, the issue of counterfeit masks has once again come under scrutiny. Although the outer packaging may appear similar to genuine products, the internal materials, embossing quality, and nose clip rubber strip length are vastly different. Some time ago, certain masks were marketed for protection against H7N9 and haze, but they were also targeted by counterfeiters. Last week, the Hangzhou City Industrial and Commercial Sub-bureau, in collaboration with mask manufacturers' rights protectors, launched a special enforcement operation to safeguard well-known Hangzhou trademarks. During this campaign, a large number of fake "North Korea" masks were seized. According to Mr. Hu, a quality management representative from the manufacturer, the company recently received numerous complaints about mask quality. Upon receiving samples from consumers, the factory identified them as low-quality counterfeits. Specifically, the "North Korea" 9000 professional dust mask and the 2002 N-nitroso compound dust mask were found to be serious issues. It was later confirmed that these fake masks had even entered the Hangzhou market. Mr. Hu explained that distinguishing real from fake masks is not easy for the average consumer at first glance. However, using counterfeit dust-proof or particulate masks can be dangerous. Not only do they fail to provide proper occupational protection, but the substandard materials used in some fakes may cause skin irritation. As a national emergency supplies storage unit, Jiande's "North Korea" Mask holds a strong reputation in the industry. Its trademark has been recognized as a famous Hangzhou brand. The industrial and commercial authorities have emphasized that masks, being essential daily items, are a key focus for regulatory efforts. During the operation, law enforcement officers conducted surprise inspections at two booths in the Great Wall Electromechanical Market. At one location, hundreds of "Chaomei" brand masks were discovered for sale. The officials immediately requested an inspection of the business premises and, in a nearby rented warehouse, confiscated a large quantity of the same type of masks. Upon comparison, fake masks showed uneven embossing and dense mesh seals, while genuine masks featured high-quality ultrasonic embossing with smooth edges. The nose clips on real masks met national standards, measuring 7 cm in length, whereas the fake ones were significantly shorter. Additionally, real masks used specialized meltblown non-woven filter material sterilized with ethylene oxide, while the fake versions used inferior materials that broke easily and lacked stickiness. Law enforcement officials requested documentation from the sellers and temporarily suspended the sale of masks suspected of infringing on registered trademarks. After verification, over 4,000 masks were involved in the case, with an estimated value of RMB 10,000. The industrial and commercial department stated that due to the possibility of counterfeit masks entering the market through these channels, further inspections will be conducted on other businesses in the area based on the clues gathered during the operation. This ongoing effort aims to crack down on the illegal sale of counterfeit masks and ensure public safety.
