Analysis of the reasons for the decline of laser cutting machine power

When you notice a drop in the laser cutting equipment's power, it's important to carefully inspect the laser generator. Start by checking the color of the laser inside the glass envelope. If the light appears pink even at high power, this may indicate a faulty generator. Next, perform a generator leak test, burn thermal paper, and use a measurement tool to assess the power output. These steps will help determine if the generator is functioning properly.

During the inspection, pay attention to the color of the glass tube. A pink hue at full power is a strong sign of failure. At this point, check for leaks and conduct a thermal paper test. The generator should be checked for gas leaks under the operator’s supervision, while the machine itself performs a self-check. Normally, air leakage should not exceed 5 mbar per hour. If the reading reaches 54 mbar/hour, it’s clear that there’s a leak. When performing the thermal paper test, if the holes are irregular or not fully burned through, it could suggest that the laser power has dropped and the beam alignment mirrors may be misaligned. If cracks are found in the glass tube, try sealing them with glass glue and recheck the leak. If the leak rate remains below 5 mbar/hour, it meets the standard. However, if the sealed area turns dark red, it indicates very low cutting power, suggesting that the repair method isn't effective.

After retesting the thermal paper and cleaning the five mirrors, spend time adjusting the beam centering using a specialized tool. Once the inspection is complete, if the glass tube color looks normal and the power is slightly lower than usual, consider replacing the B-axis lens. This often restores the power to normal levels.

For cases where the glass tube has cracked, here are some possible causes and preventive measures:

1. High humidity can lead to condensation inside the generator. If water droplets are visible on the cover or there are watermarks on the cracked glass, it’s likely due to excessive moisture. Installing high-power air conditioners and dryers can help reduce humidity. High-temperature and high-humidity environments can also cause the glass to crack.

2. A significant pressure difference between the inside and outside of the glass tube can cause damage. To prevent this, ensure that the internal pressure matches the external setting.

3. Aging or defects in the B-axis lens can affect laser output. Regular maintenance and replacement when necessary are essential.

4. Before replacing the glass tube, make sure to remove the laser mirrors and align them with the optical path. Failing to do so may result in poor power performance after the replacement.
