International advanced tool technology seminar will be held in Tsinghua

China's journey from a manufacturing giant to a global manufacturing leader has been marked by significant growth and potential. With the world's largest market and vast development opportunities in industries such as automotive, machine tools, and more, China is rapidly advancing in sectors like large aircraft, high-speed rail, rail transit, and shipping. However, despite the use of advanced machine tools, the overall level of manufacturing processes and supporting technologies still lags behind, which poses a major challenge to economic development and the nation’s transformation into a true manufacturing powerhouse. To address these challenges, the "Advanced Technology and Tool Technology Seminar" was held in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, each time drawing a growing number of participants. The events attracted representatives from domestic and international associations, universities, machine tool manufacturers, end-users, and media, with attendance reaching 250, 350, 400, and 300 respectively. These seminars provided valuable platforms for knowledge exchange and industry collaboration. Building on the success of the previous four seminars, the 2013 International Advanced Manufacturing Process and Tool Technology Seminar will take place from October 26 to 29, 2013, at Tsinghua University, one of China’s most prestigious institutions. Organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University and the Institute of Advanced Technology and Tool Technology at Shanghai University, the event will bring together leading experts and scholars from both within and outside China to share insights and discuss cutting-edge developments in manufacturing and tool technology. The seminar is supported by several renowned academic and industrial organizations, including the School of Mechanical and Electronic Control Engineering at Beijing Jiaotong University, the Institute of Superhard Tool Materials at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), the Henan Province Mechanical Engineering Society, the Shanghai Machinery Engineering Society’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Professional Committee, the China Knife Association’s Advanced Technology Research Branch, the Modern Processing Technology Professional Committee, and the Taizhou Machine Tool Industry Association. As a key media partner, the China Machine Tool Business Network will provide comprehensive coverage of the event. Continuing the tradition of professionalism and popularity set by earlier editions, the 2013 seminar aims to offer practical recommendations for the advancement of manufacturing technologies in China. It will serve as a vital platform for exploring new paths and fostering sustainable development in the industry.
