Improper use of herbicides

Recently, the author received a call from a farmer in Jiyang, Shandong Province. The farmer was concerned about his family's 3-mu leek field. While weeding, they used a herbicide called "A Fire," also known as paraquat or gramoxone. Four days after application, the leeks began to show signs of damage. After 12 days, the leaves turned yellow and started to dry up. The farmer is unsure what went wrong and is seeking advice. "A Fire" is a fast-acting herbicide based on quaternary ammonium salts. It targets the chloroplast membrane, disrupting photosynthesis and chlorophyll production. Within 2–3 hours of application, visible discoloration occurs. Paraquat has a strong effect on green tissues of both monocot and dicot plants. It acts quickly, with contact and some systemic action, making it a popular choice for rapid weed control. Gramoxone is primarily used for controlling annual weeds and has a strong effect on perennial weeds. However, it does not affect woody stems or trunks. It is commonly used in orchards, mulberry fields, rubber plantations, and forest belts. It can also be applied in cultivated lands, field borders, and roadside areas. In crops like corn, sugarcane, soybeans, and nurseries, it’s usually applied directionally to avoid damaging the main crop. In this case, the farmer used "A Fire" in the leek field, taking some protective measures. However, leeks are short plants, similar in size to many weeds, making it difficult to avoid spraying the crop itself. With weeds mixed among the leeks, the risk of herbicide damage increases significantly. This likely led to the observed symptoms and crop loss. While herbicides like paraquat offer convenience for farmers during the summer, they also carry risks. Improper use or incorrect selection can result in serious damage that is hard to reverse. It’s important for farmers to choose herbicides wisely, considering the type of crop and the specific weeds present. To prevent such issues, agricultural departments and suppliers should provide better training and guidance on proper herbicide application. Farmers need accurate and reasonable recommendations to ensure safe and effective use. By improving knowledge and practices, we can reduce the chances of crop damage and promote sustainable farming. Alumina Ceramic Ring

It can be used in all bio-inner filters, outer filters, drop purification filtration systems and garden pond filters.
It is also particularly suitable for small biofilters as a highly effective and durable filter material. Biofilter cotton is used as a pre-filter material to avoid contamination caused by floating objects.
Since the ceramic ring is covered with micropores, it is suitable for the proliferation of nitrifying bacteria, which can play a role in purifying water quality.
Features:
It can be used efficiently in small filters.
The effect is fast - whether it is fresh water or seawater aquarium, the best water quality.
Keep fish and plants healthy.
Reduce the frequency of water changes.
Long service life.
It does not decompose itself and is resistant to seawater corrosion.
Can be used in most filters.
The unique pore structure makes the nitrifying bacteria live and work in peace.
Hail Reminder: The ceramic ring is divided into a large ring and a small magnetic ring. It is necessary to choose the size according to different containers, and the price is cheap.
