What is a Point Sampler? A point sampler, also known as a fixed-point sampler, is a device used to collect samples from different levels of liquid petroleum products. It is commonly referred to as a liquid petroleum point sampler or a fixed-point sampling tool.
Standards and Features This point sampler complies with the national standard GB/T 2289 and is designed to take undisturbed samples from the surface (top, middle, and bottom) of various petroleum products. It is ideal for large and medium-sized fixed oil tanks, tank trucks, and cabins where samples are needed at a fixed depth. The design ensures a compact structure, ease of use, and reliable performance.
Material and Capacity The point sampler is typically made from brass or stainless steel. Available in capacities of 330ml, 500ml, and 1000ml, it meets a wide range of sampling needs.
How to Use a Point Sampler Before sampling, calculate the height of the liquid in the storage tank. Take samples from the top, middle, and bottom layers, ensuring that the total volume is not less than 2000ml. Connect the sampler with a hand sampler or anti-static rope, lower it into the tank, and when it reaches the desired depth (within 10–15 cm), move it up and down five times to ensure a representative sample. Retrieve the sampler, wipe the surface with a clean cloth, and transfer the sample into a clean, dry container.
