Selection of parameters in heat treatment of spring piece

The purpose of the heat treatment of the spring piece is to obtain the tempered troostite structure, thereby obtaining a high elastic limit and a yield point, and at the same time having a certain toughness, and the main processes include quenching and tempering.

In quenching, cracking, distortion and other problems are most likely to occur. These defects have a great relationship with the design structure of the workpiece, the quality of the material and the heat treatment process. Therefore, measures are taken in the following aspects:

1 good material off. First, re-inspect the incoming materials to avoid defects in the materials themselves;

2 reasonable design. Due to the working characteristics of the spring piece, the thickness difference is inevitably larger in the part design, but it can be compensated in the process design. For example, after roughing, the hole has sufficient margin, and the workpiece thickness is not processed to ensure the section. Uniform, and set rounded corner transitions at different sections to avoid stress concentration causing cracking and reduce distortion caused by uneven cooling;

3 Choose a suitable quenching method. There are many methods for quenching, and the parts adopt the austempering method to preheat the workpiece first. The advantage is that the workpiece has a uniform structure, small internal stress and reduced thermal distortion;

4 Reasonable selection of heat treatment parameters. When heating, the equipment adopts oil-fired furnace, the heating temperature is (860±10) °C, the workpiece is kept in the furnace for 6-8 minutes, and after cooling, the No. 5 engine oil is used, the oil temperature is controlled at 50-70 °C, and the isothermal temperature is 30 minutes. In the tempering, a medium-temperature box type electric resistance furnace is used, which is carried out at 500 to 540 ° C, and is kept cold for 30 to 35 minutes. Check the workpiece and if the spring is not flat, it can be tempered again.

After this heat treatment process, the workpiece is hardened uniformly, the hardness reaches 43-46HRC, the plane is flat, and the actual effect is good.
