Optical locks are known for their stability and wide adaptability, making them suitable for anti-theft applications. Semiconductor locks, such as capacitive or thermal sensors, are compact and offer a broader recognition range, especially for users with dry fingers. However, they are more sensitive to environmental conditions and prone to damage, often found in high-security environments like banks or on mobile devices. Most modern fingerprint locks include a password feature as a backup, allowing users to enter a 4-12 digit code. This dual verification system—fingerprint, password, and emergency key—enhances security and flexibility. Despite their advantages, fingerprint locks still face several challenges. One major issue is the recognition accuracy, with about 3%–5% of users experiencing difficulties. Improving this to over 98% would significantly enhance user experience. Another concern is battery life, which is often shorter than advertised, leading to unexpected failures. Lastly, the overall stability of the device remains a concern, as it relies on both mechanical and electronic components that can affect long-term performance. Market trends indicate a growing interest in fingerprint locks, even though their market share is still relatively small. As consumer demand increases, so does the need for better quality, reliability, and after-sales support. Currently, the market is divided into three tiers: low-end products from small manufacturers with limited technology and poor quality; mid-range options from companies with improved processes but no proprietary technology; and high-end models from established brands offering full R&D, production, and service support. These premium products are considered the gold standard in the industry, offering superior stability and customer satisfaction.
