High-Energy Lithium-Sulfur Secondary Battery Research Has Made Important Progress

On August 22nd, the researcher of advanced secondary batteries led by the researcher of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, made important progress in the development of high-energy lithium secondary batteries, and successfully developed a lithium-sulfur battery with a rated capacity of 15 Ah and formed a small batch production capacity. .

It is understood that the specific energy of the tested battery is greater than 430 Wh/kg. It is the lithium-sulfur battery with the largest capacity currently publicly reported. It exceeds the technical indicators of the lithium-sulfur battery 2.5Ah@350Wh/kg reported by Sion Power and is currently the best level for lithium-sulfur battery research.

Chen Jian research team, since its establishment in 2009, is committed to the development of lithium-sulfur battery new materials and new technologies, there are new breakthroughs in theory and technology, access to high theoretical data and technical indicators. This is an important progress made by the Dalian Institute of Materials for lithium-sulfur batteries under the Ministry of Science and Technology's "863" program and the nano-pilot project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the "long-term power lithium battery" project.

Lithium-sulfur battery is a kind of sustainable high specific energy secondary battery. It has many advantages such as rich element reserves and low cost. It is a research hotspot of electric vehicle battery. At present, the international technical level of lithium-sulfur batteries is approximately 350 Wh/kg. To this end, the lithium-sulfur battery is targeted for research and development. By 2016, the lithium-sulfur battery has an energy density of 400 - 600 Wh/kg.
