Senior Indian officials said they will also impose protective tariffs on China's aluminum and will investigate other imported Chinese goods. According to Indian statistics, India's imports of aluminum from China more than doubled last year, reaching 252.89 billion tons, while India's current fiscal year first quarter imports reached 82.74 million tons. This is another trade protection measure after India imposed a six-month import ban on Chinese toys in January.
In addition, the Canadian Border Services Agency made a final decision on the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy merger investigation of China's aluminum extrusion materials, which will be finalized before March 17, 2009. Once the final decision is made, the aluminum extrusion products exported by China will be subject to formal anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties.
Jia Jinsi, a professor at the Capital University of Economics and Business, said that in 2009, not only will the number of trade frictions increase, but also the means of trade protection in various countries. All along, the main trade frictions faced by China are anti-dumping. The countervailing subsidies that are not commonly used in trade remedy measures have risen in the recent period.
Bai Ming, deputy director of the International Market Research Department of the International Trade and Economic Cooperation Institute of the Ministry of Commerce, said that from the perspective of sellers in the foreign trade market, competition among enterprises in various countries has become fiercer during the financial crisis. From the government level, trade protectionism based on domestic interests has risen. From the perspective of the buyer, the demand for countries has shrunk or the increase has been blocked. These will inevitably exacerbate trade frictions.
"The countries of the world face the same problem, and the marginal incremental effect of China's foreign trade is obvious, thus inviting more trade disputes." Bai Ming said that this is what any major trading country will encounter during its growth. The core issue is to help enterprises grasp relevant information as soon as possible and actively respond to complaints.
"In the current situation, China needs to actively respond from three aspects." He believes that competition among enterprises is an economic behavior and should increase competitiveness by improving product quality or rationally reducing costs. Government agencies will protest against various trade protectionist measures and seek international support. The most important aspect is to expand demand, foreign market demand is uncontrollable, but we can take measures to explore the domestic market space.
Some trade measures against China this year â–  On January 14, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India decided to conduct a countervailing investigation on China's printing of sodium nitrite. On January 16, the Indian Ministry of Finance decided to launch a special safeguard measure investigation on China's printing of soda ash. The Chinese government has expressed firm opposition to this.
â–  On January 23, India announced a ban on the import of toys from China for a period of six months.
â–  On January 31, the EU took the final anti-dumping measures against the fasteners exported to me, and imposed an anti-dumping duty of up to 80% on average within 5 years.
â–  On February 7, the European Commission announced the preliminary ruling on China's anti-dumping case against the European wire rod and imposed a temporary anti-dumping duty. In addition to the Hualing Group's tax rate of 8.6%, the uniform tax rate of other enterprises was 24.6%.
â–  On February 16, the Canadian Border Services Agency made a final decision on the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy merger investigation of aluminum extrusion materials, and there were dumping and subsidies. Final cut before March 17.
