Metal halide lamp

Metal halide lamps, also known as high-intensity UV halogen lamps, are commonly referred to as "iron lamps." While traditional mercury UV lamps typically emit their highest peak at 365 nm, this wavelength may not be ideal for certain new inks or specialized applications that require light at 380 nm and 403 nm. Fortunately, metal halide lamps can produce these higher wavelengths by incorporating blends of metals such as iron, potassium, or other rare earth elements, either alone or combined with mercury and argon. For instance, iron-doped halogen lamps significantly enhance the 380 nm peak, while potassium-doped versions boost the 403 nm and 417 nm peaks. These enhanced spectral outputs make metal halide lamps more versatile for modern UV curing needs.

These lamps are widely used in the curing of UV inks, paints, dry films, wet films, and green solder masks. They are especially effective in screen printing applications where color accuracy and curing performance are critical. Their ability to penetrate deeper into thicker coatings makes them ideal for drying white and black inks, ensuring faster and more uniform results. Whether you're working on industrial printing or precision coating processes, metal halide lamps offer reliable and efficient UV curing solutions.
