Graphene edible graphene is a well-known magical material. Because of its excellent thinness and strength, it has become a good thermal and conductive material, and it is anti-bacterial and even resistant to cancer. However, this magical material is now edible. Researchers have demonstrated a way to etch graphene "tags" on foods such as bread and potatoes, as well as materials such as cardboard and cloth as RFID tags. This development is based on the work of laser-induced graphene (LIG), a new material developed in the past. This technique involves the use of a laser to heat the surface of the material to form a sheet-like foam structure of graphene. At the root, this basic material is a polymer called polyimide, and the research team succeeded in using the same process to make LIG on the wood surface. In some cases, multiple lasers can form a two-step reaction: first, the laser converts the target surface to amorphous carbon by means of photothermal heating. The selective absorption of infrared light then converts the amorphous carbon to LIG during subsequent laser conduction.
Electronic labels make food traceable This technique is equally applicable to
foods such as bread, potatoes and coconuts. Among them, an organic polymer called lignin is very important. It is not only present in all of these substances, but also can be used to form graphene. Because of the conductivity of these graphene etches, it is possible to embed RFID tags and sensors directly on food, to show you the history of the product or to warn you of potential trace organic contaminants.
