Talking about the Control of Wall Thickness of Aluminum Alloy Doors and Windows Profiles

【China Aluminum Industry Network】 Abstract: The wall thickness of aluminum alloy structural profiles is one of the indicators of product quality. This article describes the standard requirements for the wall thickness of profiles, and the differences between national standards GB5237 and GB/T8478 for wall thickness regulations. Customers, door and window processing units, and profile manufacturers have different requirements for profile wall thickness. Profile manufacturers must take into consideration the requirements of all parties and reasonably control profile wall thickness tolerances. Keywords: architectural profiles, wall thickness, standards, tolerances Aluminium alloy construction profiles are aluminum profiles widely used in the construction industry. They can be used for door and window processing, can be made into ordinary windows and doors, and can also be made into high-grade insulated doors and windows. The wall thickness of doors and windows profiles has always been a concern for customers, door and window processing units, and profile manufacturers. The product requested by the customer is a product with excellent quality. Thickness is better when the wall thickness conforms to the standard, and the strength is better. Finished windows made by door and window processing units must meet the processing standards for doors and windows. We hope that the wall thickness of the products meets the standards and the wall thickness and thinness are good. This product is light in weight, high in output rate, and high in profit. Profile manufacturers produce profiles in accordance with standards, and wall thickness control is controlled according to standard tolerances. This seems to be no problem, as long as the product wall thickness meets the standards. But actually this "standard" is different. Profile manufacturers to implement the national standard GB5237 aluminum alloy building profile standards, and customers to implement the national standard GB/T8478 aluminum alloy doors and windows standards. Both regulations for wall thickness are not completely uniform, and this creates a contradiction in the wall thickness of the profile. The specification of GB5237.1-2008 for aluminum alloy building profiles is not less than 1.2mm in terms of wall thickness. See standard 4.4.1.1.2: Aluminum alloy door and window standard GB/T8478-2008 on wall thickness is the main profile wall thickness not less than 1.4mm, 2.0mm. See standard 5.1.2.1.1: It can be seen that there are two kinds of statements about the wall thickness of door and window profiles. The actual door and window market is a relatively large project requires the door and window profile wall thickness of 1.4mm, and some project requirements are 1.2mm, and less than 1.2mm thick door and window profile products exist for civil construction. Does this mean that the ordered profile requires a wall thickness of 1.4mm? No! Because there is a tolerance problem. The GB5237 standard has a tolerance of 1.4mm wall thickness. See Table 3: According to the standard, the nominal wall thickness is 1.4mm, and the wall thickness tolerance is ±0.13mm (here, A wall thickness). In other words, the wall thickness of the profiles produced according to the national standard 5237 can be negative. The GB/T8478 can not be negative. This is the difference between the two standards. As a profile manufacturer, it is performed according to the 5237 standard, which is generally controlled by the -0.05 mm wall thickness controlled by the nominal wall thickness. For example, with a 1.4mm thick profile, the material produced by the new mold is 1.35mm thick. When the mold is used, the wall thickness will gradually increase. When the wall thickness reaches 1.45mm, the mold is basically scrapped. When the product surface treatment is spraying, the film thickness of the sprayed product is generally more than 0.05mm, so that when the sprayed product is not removed, the measured wall thickness is 1.4mm or more. The nominal wall thickness is the same as the 2.0mm door material. If the customer requires that the wall thickness of the door and window profile base material is not less than 1.4mm or 2.0mm, the manufacturer must use the old mold and try the mold on the machine and measure the wall thickness to meet the requirements. If the mold does not meet the requirements, repair the mold and add the wall. Thick, or new open mold. If the wall thickness of the base material is required to be not less than 1.4 mm or 2.0 mm, higher requirements are imposed on the mold management of the profile manufacturer, and the cost of the mold will certainly increase. Conclusion: The standard for the wall thickness of aluminum alloy building profiles is set by the state and the manufacturer must implement it. The production of aluminum products requires tolerance control. There is no exactly what the wall thickness is, and there will be more or less deviation. To balance the interests of customers, door and window processing units, and the manufacturers of profiles, to achieve the three parties satisfied with the production standards, which requires the parties to solve the problem.
