Wheat re-greening, less urea absorption

Urea is the highest nitrogen content in solid nitrogen fertilizer, and it is suitable for all kinds of soils and various crops, especially for top dressing. Therefore, since the use of urea, most farmers generally use urea as a top dressing. However, the experiment proves that it is better to use ammonium bicarbonate instead of urea when the wheat is greened. Why?

Crops can not directly absorb and utilize urea, and can only be converted into ammonium carbonate under the action of urinary bacterial enzymes in the soil for root absorption, and the rate of conversion of urea to ammonium carbonate is greatly related to soil temperature. It takes 7 to 10 days at a ground temperature of 10 ° C, 4 to 5 days at 20 ° C, and only two or three days to complete the conversion at 30 ° C.

Wheat returning to topdressing is mainly for wheat fields with weak seedlings, insufficient population or de-fertilization. However, since the ground temperature of wheat is still below 10 °C when it returns to green, if topdressing is combined with watering, it often causes mistakes due to slow effect of fertilizer efficiency. In contrast, ammonium bicarbonate applied to the soil may be absorbed by wheat, and the fertilizer efficiency is much faster than urea.
