Volt industries: the expansion of the tide reproduces the future

On September 19, Li Junfeng, deputy director of the Energy Development Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, said in a reporter’s question in Wuxi, Jiangsu, “As China's production capacity increases too rapidly, it is inevitable that China's PV market will experience a surplus next year.” He also pointed out that next year the photovoltaic power generation industry will encounter To the bottleneck.

"Daily Economic News" reporter found that at present, China's photovoltaic industry to reproduce two years ago, the expansion of the boom, the major domestic battery and component manufacturers have significantly increased capacity targets. The reporter learned from the Wuxi New Energy Conference held on September 17th that Wuxi Suntech, Hebei Jingao, and Suzhou CSI Artes have plans for large-scale expansion next year.

In addition, statistics from the Global PV Network show that from the end of last year to the first half of 2010, China's solar energy companies have expanded production to about 20GW. In the first half of this year, global shipments of photovoltaic modules were 7GW, which is the highest peak in history. In response, industry insiders said that if the solar PV application market fluctuates in 2011, excess capacity may emerge.

The application market is weak

Li Junfeng said, "Actually, the foundation of photovoltaic power generation application market is very weak. At present, only a few countries are seriously doing this market. At present, many people are optimistic about the US market, but the US market really takes a long time to start. Another phenomenon is also It is worth noting that Obama does not basically mention new energy, and India in emerging markets is also saying that it has done much less. Our country is pouring cold water after bidding."

“From a worldwide perspective, the photovoltaic application market is still very weak. Due to the rapid increase in production capacity in China, the surplus in the next year is inevitable. At present, Wuxi Suntech components have reached 800MW, only 700MW last year; Changzhou Trina Solar Shipments of 420 MW were unchanged from last year, said Li Junfeng.

For the problem of excess capacity, CSI Arte CEO Xiaotao Yao told the Daily Economic News reporter: “From a medium to long-term perspective, the new energy industry will certainly not have surpluses. There may be some unbalanced development in the short term. This industry There is still a lot of room for development in the next five years."

Photovoltaic companies busy expanding production

Judging from the current plans of various domestic photovoltaic companies, Li Junfeng's statement is not without facts. "Daily Economic News" reporter learned from the Wuxi New Energy Conference that the world's second largest photovoltaic plant Wuxi Suntech is planning to increase its capacity to 1.8 GW at the end of this year; Hebei Jinao Solar is also catching up quickly, and the company will target its production capacity at the end of this year as 1.8GW, will continue to expand production next year; Suzhou photovoltaic cell production company CSI Artes next year's solar cell production capacity will be doubled to 1.3GW.

Lou Xiaolu said, "I have confidence in the growth of the company next year. We expand at our own pace and will not control the short-term changes in the market."

Global photovoltaic network statistics show that from the end of last year to the first half of this year, China's solar energy companies have increased their production by about 20 GW. Excluding large companies such as Suntech, Tianwei Yingli, CSI Artis, and Trina Solar, they have a total expansion of 10 GW. In addition, some small and medium-sized enterprises are also actively raising output to meet market demand.

On the one hand, the company plans to develop ambitions and the other side predicts that “the market is not as big as it seems”. Meng Xianji, deputy director of the China Renewable Energy Society, once stated that although renewable energy sources, including photovoltaic solar energy, are positioned as strategic emerging industries, they are far less popular. According to the long-term planning, renewable energy will play an important role in 2030, and it will become an important part of major energy sources by 2050.
