Hardware knowledge base: "die"

Definition: A tool for machining external threads.

Machining or correcting threading tools for external threads. The die is equivalent to a nut with a very high hardness. Several screw holes are formed around the screw hole. Generally, the cutting cone is ground on both ends of the screw hole. Dies are classified into round die, square die, hexagon die, and tubular die according to their appearance and purpose (see the type of die). Among them, circular dies are the most widely used, with a range of M 0 .25 to M 68 mm. When the diameter of the machined thread is out of tolerance, the adjusting groove on the die can be cut to adjust the diameter of the thread. Dies can be installed in the die wrenches and hand-threaded, but they can also be mounted in the die rack for use on the machine tool. The precision of the threads produced by the die is low, but due to its simple structure and ease of use, it is still widely used in single-piece, small-lot production and repairs.
