Canada approves cultivation of genetically modified corn and soybeans

According to DuPont, DuPont has obtained regulatory approval from Canadian authorities to allow GAT-quality GM corn and soybean seeds to be grown, produced and processed in Canada.

DuPont stated that GAT can protect crops from another herbicide. The United States has approved DuPont's GAT transgenic soybean seeds and may approve GAT genetically modified corn seeds in the coming months.

The Canadian government has approved GAT's quality genetically modified corn and soybean seeds, and agreed to use GAT corn and soybeans for planting, animal feed processing, and food production.

DuPont developed GAT transgenic seeds and competed with Monsanto's Roundup Ready transgenic crops.
